Special Reports

Oregon Health News publishes special reports on specific segments of the state's health care market. In these reports, OHN attempts to gather a small amount of the vast reams of data that exist about health care, and put that information into a comprehensible and useful format for our subscribers and the broader health care market.

Our 2007 Hospital Report is complete and available now. Click here for more information.

Older reports, meanwhile, are still available. Our 2005 and 2006 hospital reports include detailed information on staffed beds, average daily census, operating revenue, operating expenses, operating income and operating margins for Oregon's 57 facilities. They also examine the recent hospital construction boom, the growth of ambulatory surgical centers and the increasing discrepancy between urban and rural facilities.

In June 2004, Oregon Health News published an in-depth study of the profitability of Oregon health insurers. The report includes 10 years of comprehensive data on topics such as investments, net assets, net worth, premiums, total revenues, and prescription drug costs. Also included is a salary history for executives at major health insurers. A 2006 edition is expected to be published sometime this year.
